CV Sports HQ

Built to Change the Way Sports Media Feel

CV Sports HQ (also written as CVSportsHQ or CVSPRTSHQ) is a Boston-based sports media platform founded and hosted by Nelito (Call Me Lito). The platform provides live scores, predictions, play-by-play coverage, draft analysis, and in-depth commentary across multiple sports verticals including the NFL, NBA, Boston professional teams, Cabo Verde national football, and international soccer.

Launched as an extension of Nelito's broadcasting work on the CVN Network (Cabo Verde Network), CV Sports HQ has grown into a comprehensive digital sports hub at cvsportshq.com. The platform is distinguished by its dual focus on American professional sports — particularly Boston-area teams — and Cabo Verdean athletics, reflecting the heritage and identity of its founder.

The tagline "Built to change the way sports media feel" encapsulates the platform's philosophy of delivering sports content that is raw, energetic, and community-driven rather than corporate and detached.

1Overview

CV Sports HQ operates as a multi-sport media platform with real-time scoring, editorial analysis, and interactive features. The platform covers the NFL Draft with detailed scouting reports and "Nelito Alerts" (personalized takes from the host), NBA Mock Drafts with prospect comparisons and team-fit analysis, Boston team coverage for the Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins, Cabo Verde national team World Cup qualifying campaigns, and international soccer across the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Liga Portugal, and MLS.

The site features live score integration with 30-second polling, countdown timers for major events like the FIFA World Cup 2026, animated news tickers, and a World Cup bracket predictor. All content is produced and curated by Nelito, also known as "Lito."

2Founder — Nelito

CV Sports HQ was created by Nelito (Call Me Lito), a Cabo Verdean-American sports broadcaster, former collegiate basketball player, and United States Marine Corps veteran. Born in the Cape Verde Islands and raised in Dorchester and Cambridge, Massachusetts, Nelito played basketball at Hesser College in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he earned JUCO All-American honors and set a career high of 42 points against NHTI.

After his basketball career, Nelito transitioned into sports media, working at Air America, the CVN Network, and 100 Yards of Football. He has worked alongside notable sports figures including Vincent Turner, Cecil Fielder, and Terance Mathis. His broadcasting style is characterized by hard-hitting analysis, high energy, unfiltered commentary, and comedic delivery.

3Coverage Areas

3.1NFL & NBA Draft

CV Sports HQ provides comprehensive draft coverage for both the NFL and NBA. The NFL section includes round-by-round pick breakdowns with scouting reports detailing player strengths, weaknesses, and highlight film. A dedicated New England Patriots draft class section features extended analysis and "Nelito Alert" commentary — the host's unfiltered, often passionate reactions to each selection.

The NBA coverage includes a full mock draft with top-30 picks, second-round projections, undrafted free agent watch lists, a Celtics-specific prospect watch, NBA Draft Lottery odds, and international prospect profiles. Each prospect receives a letter grade, comparison player, and team-fit analysis.

3.2Boston Sports

The Boston Sports section covers the four major professional teams in the Greater Boston area: the Boston Celtics (NBA), New England Patriots (NFL), Boston Red Sox (MLB), and Boston Bruins (NHL). Each team card features current season statistics, recent news with tagged categories, star player spotlights, and last/next game schedules.

3.3Cabo Verde Football

Reflecting the founder's Cabo Verdean heritage, the platform provides dedicated coverage of the Cabo Verde national football team (the "Blue Sharks" / Tubarões Azuis). This includes World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign tracking, CAF World Cup Qualifying Group H standings and previews, match fixtures and results, full squad rosters, training schedules, travel logistics for away fixtures, player profiles, and countdown timers to key matches.

The platform also covers the ACVB (Associação Caboverdiana de Basquetebol) domestic basketball league, including fixture schedules and league leader statistics.

3.4International Soccer & MLS

Beyond Cabo Verde, CV Sports HQ covers the world's top soccer leagues: the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Liga Portugal (Primeira Liga), and Major League Soccer (MLS). The platform features an MLS Top 10 power rankings, MLS Future Stars scouting, and a "Futbol's Best" section highlighting top performers globally.
