JAYLEN BROWN IS A 76ER. IT STILL DOESN'T FEEL REAL.

Boston ships its Finals MVP to Philadelphia for Paul George and a war chest of picks. The Tatum era officially begins.

I screamed PAY THE MAN for two straight months. On July 6, Brad Stevens did the opposite. Shams broke it, and it went official: Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, a 2028 first-round pick, a 2031 unprotected first, and two seconds. The same franchise we blew a 3-1 lead to in the first round now has our Finals MVP. Baseball has curses. This is ours.

The cold truth is the cap sheet won. Two supermax deals eating roughly 35% of the cap apiece was never sustainable, and after the collapse to Philly the front office decided this core had hit its ceiling. When the Giannis dream died — the Greek Freak forced his way to Miami on June 30 — the writing was already on the wall.

Tatum Speaks — And It's His Team Now

"To be honest, it's weird. It's weird. You play on a team with a guy for nine years."— JAYSON TATUM

Weird is right. But make no mistake — this is Jayson Tatum's team now. The Achilles is healthy, the knee is behind him, and Paul George slots in on the wing as a nine-time All-Star and elite two-way piece whose deal doubles as 2027 cap flexibility. Brad didn't just subtract; he moved fast on the margins too — Neemias Queta locked up on a 4-year, $56M extension, with Mitchell Robinsonand Mike Conley signed on Day 1 of free agency.

It hurts. It'll hurt a while. But eighteen banners don't rebuild themselves. Thank you forever, seven.

Banner 19 runs through #0 now. ☘️

🎬 Director Yells CUT… Lakers Season Officially Over

What a night. What a night. WHAT A NIGHT to be a Boston Celtics fan.

The LA Lakers didn't just lose… they got swept. Swept by a great Oklahoma City Thunder team. And listen — even without Luka Dončić, you'd think the Lakers could've pulled out at least ONE lousy game. Apparently not. Boston brooms are out tonight.

Lito feels good tonight.

I just know Cousin Al is somewhere right now telling somebody:
"I thought we'd at least get one."

And to all the Lakers fans reminding Celtics fans about blowing a 3-1 lead in the first round… getting swept is worse. Trust me. No fan wants to see the cameras pan across the crowd while fans wave brooms like it's a parade route.

Valter's probably somewhere just shaking his head saying:
"Kobe ain't walking back through that door."

And honestly? I'm almost positive LeBron is leaving LA. And if he stays, it's probably more about setting up the next chapter of his career and enjoying the weather than chasing another title in purple and gold.

Meanwhile, my guy "The People's Master Gunnery Sergeant" is probably asleep tonight with his fists clenched tight, flat-out furious.

Then there's my brother — a Lakers fan, but not exactly a diehard. Midlife crisis hit him and instead of buying a sports car or finding a younger wife… he became a La Liga soccer fan. Don't ask me to explain it. I can't.

But here in Boston?

The season's officially over.

The Lakers got swept.

And Celtics fans can finally let go of some of that bitterness from blowing the 3-1 lead and start looking ahead to next season and the draft.

And my cousin Mario?
That Celtics fan is probably laughing in his sleep tonight.

I honestly wonder how many Celtics fans across the world are sending Lakers fans broom emojis tonight. 🧹☘️

Because this is Boston — the greatest sports city in the world — and LA fans always seem like they're rooting from some Hollywood movie set across the pond.

And somebody still needs to explain to me why Maxi Kleber was out there over Rui. And listen — Austin Reaves actually got a good look on that last shot… he just missed it. But let's be honest, Payton Pritchard probably buries that shot from the parking lot. Kobe probably would've hit it too. I had to rub that in.

JJ Redick's gonna have to answer questions all offseason long.

And honestly? I like JJ. But why anybody willingly signs up to coach the Lakers circus, I'll never understand.

Funny thing is, JJ Redick and Joe Mazzulla always look like they've got the exact same facial expression: like they just watched somebody back into their car in a parking lot.

So sleep tight tonight, Lakers fans.

LA's probably miserable tonight. And I hope you can hear the laughter, trash talk, and trophy waving coming all the way from that gritty city wearing Celtic green proudly and unapologetically.

Because in Boston tonight?

LA SUCKS.

And every bar, pub, alley, basement, and living room around the city has toasted to LA losing tonight.

🏀 DRAFT NIGHT · ROUND 1 · PICK 27JUNE 23, 2026 · SOURCE: ESPN / NBA.COM

CELTICS DRAFT CHRIS CENAC JR.

Houston's 6-11 forward lands in green at No. 27 — the switchable, rim-running big Boston has been hunting since the Horford era.

The Boston Celtics entered the 2026 NBA Draft with a clear priority: the frontcourt needed reinforcement. Last season's lack of athleticism and size up front exposed itself during the playoff loss to Philadelphia, and the failed pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier this week left that gap unfilled heading into draft night.

Boston held the 27th overall pick with limited flexibility to move up. The board had thinned through the mid-first round, but one name remained available that aligned with what the Celtics needed most. When the pick came in, Brad Stevens and the front office made their move.

Cenac Sends a Message to Celtics Fans

The Celtics selected Houston forward Chris Cenac Jr. with the 27th pick, and the 19-year-old wasted no time setting the tone.

"Thank you to the Boston Celtics for selecting me. They're going to get a great character guy, that's going to come in and work hard everyday, and do whatever it takes to help the team win."— CHRIS CENAC JR.

He followed that up on Instagram with a shorter but equally direct message: "Let's get to work Boston!"

Cenac was one of the last prospects still waiting at Barclays Center on Tuesday night. The wait did not dim his energy. If anything, the message he sent suggested a player ready to earn his place rather than assume it. That distinction matters. Stevens kept his assessment straightforward, describing Cenac as someone who "fits a position of need" while praising his motor, length, and the standard he was held to under Kelvin Sampson's program at Houston.

Cenac is a 6-foot-11, 240-pound forward with a 7-foot-5 wingspan. The physical tools jump off the page — he is long, mobile, and plays with a motor that does not shut off. During his freshman season at Houston, he shot 48.5 percent from the floor across 37 games while pulling down nearly eight rebounds per game and averaging 9.5 points. The rebounding is where he separates himself: he attacks the glass with force, times his jumps to generate second-chance looks, and brings a physicality around the rim that Boston's frontcourt has lacked.

His off-ball instincts are advanced. He reads the floor well, finds open lanes when defenses collapse on ball handlers, and positions himself for easy finishes — awareness that does not always come naturally to young bigs. Defensively, he moves well enough to handle switches on the perimeter and contests shots with active hands. The shot-blocking numbers are modest for his frame, but the tools suggest growth is coming.

The outside shot remains a question. He connected on 33.3 percent of his threes on three attempts per game — a reasonable starting point — but a 62.1 percent mark from the foul line raises concerns about how quickly the shooting develops at the next level. His mid-range touch is further along, and that part of his game could translate faster.

Final Word for the Celtics

Cenac offers a foundation: the size, the wingspan, the motor, and a willingness to do the work that does not show up in highlights but shows up in wins. Boston's development system gets to build on that basis. The message on draft night was simple. Work. That is what he promised. For a team that needs its frontcourt to take a step forward, that is exactly where it starts.

THE TRADE THAT BROKE MY HEART — JAYLEN BROWN IS A 76ER. It's real. On July 6 Brad Stevens shipped our Finals MVP to Philadelphia for PAUL GEORGE, a 2028 first, a 2031 UNPROTECTED first, and two seconds. I screamed PAY THE MAN for two months straight — instead they cashed him in. The cold math won: two supermax deals eating 35% of the cap each was never sustainable, and after the 3-1 collapse to those SAME Sixers, the front office decided this core had hit its ceiling. Giannis? Gone to Miami, so that door slammed too. Now it's TATUM'S TEAM — Deuce is healthy, PG-13 slots in on the wing, and Brad turned the summer into a war chest for 2027. He got PAID work done fast, too: Neemias Queta locked up 4yr/$56M, Mitchell Robinson and Mike Conley signed Day 1 of free agency. It hurts. It'll hurt a while. But eighteen banners don't rebuild themselves. Thank you forever, JB. And still — BLEEP the Lakers. Always. ☘️

  • ROOKIE ENERGYJul 29

THE ATHLETICISM PROBLEM IS BEING FIXED BY TWO KIDS. CHRIS CENAC JR. — 6-11, 240, a SEVEN-FOOT-FIVE wingspan — put up 14 POINTS, 10 REBOUNDS and 4 BLOCKS off the bench in his first look in green, then buried a BUZZER-BEATING CORNER THREE to force overtime. DILLON MITCHELL, the 40th pick, went for 4 points, 2 blocks and 2 steals as a starter and he jumps out of the building — 38.5-INCH VERTICAL. The two of them held an impromptu dunk contest after practice and Mitchell conceded it to Cenac on length alone. For a roster that has been called slow and short-armed for three years running, THIS is the infusion. Feed them minutes.

    #Celtics#ChrisCenac#DillonMitchell#Rookies#Boston
  • STILL WORKINGJul 26

Brad Stevens is NOT done. DEMAR DEROZAN is sitting out there after Sacramento cut him loose and Boston keeps getting named the front-runner — ahead of Miami, ahead of Utah. A 20-plus-point scorer on a minimum-type deal for a team that just shipped out Jaylen Brown? Yes. Please. The other open item on the desk: whether DILLON MITCHELL gets a standard contract or a two-way. After what he showed in Vegas, give the man a real deal.

    #Celtics#DeRozan#BradStevens#FreeAgency#Boston
  • WAR CHESTJul 20

Take a breath and look at what Brad actually built this month. Out: Jaylen Brown. In: PAUL GEORGE, a 2028 first that started life in Los Angeles with the Clippers, an UNPROTECTED 2031 FIRST, and two seconds. Locked up: NEEMIAS QUETA, four years and $56 million through 2030-31. Signed: MITCHELL ROBINSON three years, MIKE CONLEY one year. Drafted: CENAC and MITCHELL. That is a full retool executed in three weeks with the 2027 cap sheet still clean. Brad Stevens won Executive of the Year for last season. He is building the case for another one.

    #Celtics#BradStevens#CapSheet#Banner19#Boston
  • TATUM SPEAKSJul 8

JAYSON TATUM broke his silence on the Brown trade today: "To be honest, it's weird. It's weird. You play on a team with a guy for nine years." Weird is the word, Deuce. But make no mistake — this is YOUR team now. The Achilles is healthy, the knee is behind him, and every possession runs through #0. Carry us the way JB carried us all last spring. BANNER 19 runs through you now.

    #Celtics#Tatum#PostJB#Boston#Banner19
  • 💔 BLOCKBUSTER — JB TRADEDJul 6

I STILL CAN'T TYPE IT WITHOUT MY CHEST HURTING. JAYLEN BROWN TRADED TO THE PHILADELPHIA 76ERS for PAUL GEORGE, a 2028 first-rounder, a 2031 UNPROTECTED first, and two seconds. Shams dropped it, it went official today. I screamed PAY THE MAN for two months. Brad chose the cap sheet and the picks — two supermax deals at 35% each was never going to last, and the 3-1 collapse to Philly sealed the verdict on this core. Thank you for everything, seven. Forever a Finals MVP in this city.

    #Celtics#JaylenBrown#76ers#PaulGeorge#Boston
  • PAUL GEORGE INJul 6

So we get PAUL GEORGE — a 9-time All-Star and elite two-way wing when healthy, on a deal that doubles as 2027 cap flexibility. Pair PG-13 with a healthy Tatum and the mountain of picks Brad just hoarded, and the plan comes into focus: stay in the hunt now, chase a co-star in the summer of 2027. It's not JB. Nobody replaces JB. But it's a real player and a real path. Prove it, Brad.

    #Celtics#PaulGeorge#BradStevens#Boston#Banner19
  • FREE AGENCY — QUETA PAIDJul 3

NEEMIAS QUETA gets 4 YEARS, $56 MILLION to stay in green — our Portuguese big man CASHES IN and anchors the paint for the future. On Day 1 of free agency Brad also inked MITCHELL ROBINSON (3 years) and MIKE CONLEY (1 year, veteran floor general). The frontcourt just got LONGER and the bench got SMARTER. Work the phones, Brad — you never, ever stop.

    #Celtics#NeemiasQueta#MitchellRobinson#MikeConley#Boston
  • GIANNIS GONEJun 30

And the Giannis dream is officially DEAD — the Greek Freak forced his way to the MIAMI HEAT, not Boston. I told you the second-apron math killed any Celtics deal and that a straight Tatum swap was never happening. Now he lands right in our conference. Great. Fantastic. Refocus, boys — we've still got eighteen banners and Miami's got zero this decade.

    #Celtics#Giannis#Heat#Boston#Banner19
  • ☘️ DRAFT NIGHT — CENAC IN GREENJun 25

I TOLD YOU. I TOLD YOU FROM MAY. CHRIS CENAC JR. IS A CELTIC — Boston took the Houston big at NUMBER 27 and he did not even have to trade up to get him. 6-11, 240 pounds, a 7-5 wingspan, nineteen years old, wearing #12. Then Brad grabbed DILLON MITCHELL at 40, a straight-up freak athlete out of Texas. And the moment of the night for this city: AJ DYBANTSA of BROCKTON, MASSACHUSETTS went FIRST OVERALL to Washington and stopped to hug his boy Cenac on the way to the stage. Brockton kid goes 1-1. Cenac lands in green. Write it down: CALL ME LITO.

Two-and-a-half weeks to the NBA Draft (June 25, Barclays Center) and Brad Stevens is STILL working the phones. Celtics hold #27 and #40. The plan hasn't changed and neither has my voice: trade up, find a way, get a long, switchable big. Cenac, Veesaar — whoever falls, GO GET HIM. JB's extension window opens July, Tatum's knee is healthy, the tax sheet is clean. BANNER 19 LOADING. ☘️

  • FINAL — GAME 7May 2

PHILADELPHIA 109, BOSTON 100. Season over. For the first time in franchise history the Celtics blew a 3-1 lead — type those words and they still don't feel real. JAYLEN BROWN 33, DERRICK WHITE 21, the rest of the roster played their guts out without Tatum. Embiid 34/10/5, Maxey 30, Edgecombe 21 for Philly. Down 13 to start the fourth and Brown got us within ONE — couldn't get the last shots to fall. Hurts. Always will. Proud of every guy in green.

Celtics shot 2-for-12 from three in the first quarter — that's the game right there. Dug out of a 13-point fourth-quarter hole on heart and ball movement and Jaylen Brown carrying every ounce of the load. One shy of the Embiid-Maxey closeout. THAT is hard-fought. Walk out of the Garden with your head UP.

JAYLEN BROWN — 33 points, no Tatum, the entire offense funneled through #7, and he answered with the loudest 33 of his career. Jaylen Brown breaks his silence: "Me and Brad have a great relationship. I love Boston. If it was up to me, I could play in Boston for the next 10 years." THAT is what a Finals MVP sounds like. The extension window opens in July — $141.9 million for two years. PAY THE MAN.

YESTERDAY · REPORT: Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to be traded to a "true championship contender" and prefers the Eastern Conference. Celtics are "known to be interested." Celtics hold pick #27 and #40. Henri Veesaar (7-0, UNC) is the most commonly mocked target — 17 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 42.6% from three. Cenac Jr. (Houston) projected 17-25 range, which means Brad NEEDS to trade up. I will not stop saying it: FIND A WAY.

CAMP IS OPEN AND THE REVENGE TOUR IS REAL. Veterans reported JULY 24, and the pads-off opener ran SATURDAY MORNING on the fields behind Gillette — ninety minutes, Drake Maye out front, the first Saturday start to camp in DECADES. Why early? Because New England draws the NFL SEASON OPENER: WEDNESDAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 9, AT SEATTLE. A SUPER BOWL LX REMATCH in prime time to open the league's year. First throw of camp went at A.J. BROWN — Christian Gonzalez in his hip pocket, ball a touch high, incomplete, and honestly? Good. That is what a real WR1 versus a real CB1 looks like every single day now. Maye came right back and hit KAYSHON BOUTTE for 40 on the first deep ball of the summer, then layered a seam to HUNTER HENRY and found DEMARIO DOUGLAS out of the slot. Year three for the kid who took a 4-13 team to the Super Bowl and lost MVP BY ONE VOTE. A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs on the outside. Josh McDaniels calling it. THE PATRIOT WAY ISN'T BACK — IT NEVER LEFT.

  • 💰 GONZO MONEYJul 27

ROBERT KRAFT SAID IT OUT LOUD: the Patriots put a RECORD OFFER on the table for CHRISTIAN GONZALEZ — a deal that would make him the HIGHEST-PAID CORNERBACK IN FOOTBALL. No holdout, no drama, no hostage situation. Gonzo is AT CAMP, working, covering A.J. Brown one-on-one every morning and winning his share of them. This is what it looks like when an organization identifies its best young defender and simply pays the man. PAY HIM AND KEEP HIM FOR A DECADE.

  • YEAR THREEJul 26

Let us be precise about what this quarterback already did. DRAKE MAYE took a team that went 4-13 and dragged it to the SUPER BOWL, and he missed the MVP by ONE SINGLE VOTE. One. Now he is 23 years old, entering season three, running an offense that added A.J. BROWN by trade and ROMEO DOUBS in free agency, with JOSH McDANIELS calling the plays for a second year. TOMMY DeVITO re-signed early and is now the primary backup after sitting third on the depth chart last year. The schedule is HARDER. The roster is BETTER. Do your job.

  • 🏈 DAY 1 REPORTJul 25

FIRST PRACTICE IS IN THE BOOKS. Ninety minutes behind Gillette, bleachers full, and DRAKE MAYE opened camp by going STRAIGHT AT A.J. BROWN — Christian Gonzalez blanketed it, ball sailed a hair high, no completion. Maye laughed about it after: he wanted to "start off the camp with a little bang." Then the bang came — 40 YARDS to KAYSHON BOUTTE, first real deep ball of the summer, and the crowd let it rip. He layered a seam ball to HUNTER HENRY and hit DEMARIO DOUGLAS on a crosser out of the slot. Maye afterward: "great to be back out here," and yeah, they have "to clean some things up" — THAT IS WHAT CAMP IS FOR, kid.

  • 🏆 NFL TOP 100Jul 6

A.J. BROWN LANDS ON THE NFL TOP 100 — the ONLY Patriot to crack the list, checking in at No. 80. Slept on? ABSOLUTELY. Six 1,000-yard seasons in seven years and the league ranks him 80th, down from 29th a year ago? Use it, A.J. Drake Maye is about to make that number look ridiculous. FUEL. THE. FIRE.

    #Patriots#AJBrown#NFLTop100#Foxborough
  • ⚠️ JACAS WATCHJul 7

Real concern on the edge: rookie GABE JACAS (2nd round, #55) STILL hasn't practiced since the draft, remains UNSIGNED heading into camp, and got flagged in pre-draft medicals for shoulder, knee and foot. We traded UP for this kid — we need him on the field rushing the passer. Get the deal done, get him healthy. The pass rush can't afford a summer-long holdout.

    #Patriots#GabeJacas#Holdout#Foxborough
  • AFC EAST OUTLOOKJul 5

Look around the division and SMILE: Buffalo fired a 9-year head coach for first-timer Joe Brady, Miami tore it all down and is starting Malik Willis, and the Jets are openly punting a bridge year. New England has Maye, A.J. Brown, a Super Bowl-tested core and Mike Vrabel. The AFC East runs through FOXBOROUGH now. Sit down, everybody.

  • 🚨 BLOCKBUSTER — A.J. BROWNJun 2

IT'S OFFICIAL: A.J. BROWN IS A PATRIOT. New England lands the All-Pro from Philadelphia for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth — and swallows just a $7.04M cap hit for 2026. The big man took his first practice reps at Gillette today and met the media. Drake Maye finally has a true No. 1 alpha. WOLF. DID. THAT. Sit down, AFC East.

  • INJURY ROOMJun 3

Tough news out of OTAs: TE JULIAN HILL placed on SEASON-ENDING injured reserve after a severe practice injury. The blocking-and-special-teams glue guy will miss 2026. A real loss in the tight end room behind Hunter Henry. Heal up, Jules — the room is praying on you.

MLB · 2026 SEASON · TRACY ERA · 18-4 IN JULY · WE ARE BUYERS
53W
50L
AL E · 3RDDIVISION

FIFTEEN STRAIGHT. EIGHTEEN AND FOUR IN JULY. THIS TEAM IS ALIVE AND I AM HOARSE. Rewind three weeks and we were 37-48 and DEAD LAST in the East and I was begging Craig Breslow not to tear it down. Then this club ripped off FIFTEEN CONSECUTIVE WINS — tying the LONGEST WINNING STREAK IN 125 YEARS OF RED SOX BASEBALL, an 80-year-old franchise record — capped by a 6-3 win over Baltimore on July 22 before the Orioles finally ended it 5-1 in the nightcap. Nine-for-nine on a road trip before the break. A ten-game road winning streak. We are 53-50, THIRD in the AL East, and squarely in the playoff picture. SONNY GRAY is no longer a trade chip, he is a KEEPER — 2.48 ERA, second-lowest in the American League, 1.12 WHIP, 90 strikeouts to EIGHT WALKS across 101.2 innings, and now there is real extension talk. Same for AROLDIS CHAPMAN. Word out of the front office has flipped completely: Boston is looking to BUY infield help before the AUGUST 3 deadline. Chad Tracy took over an interim job on April 25 with this team 10-17 and has turned it into the best story in the sport. PULL ON THE ROPE.

  • STAT LEADERSJul 30

Where the club stands at the end of July: CEDDANNE RAFAELA leads the team with 104 HITS and is playing the best all-around baseball of his life. WILLSON CONTRERAS is up to 22 HOME RUNS and remains the best free-agent signing Breslow has made. RANGER SUÁREZ leads the staff with 97 STRIKEOUTS. Add Sonny Gray's 2.48 and a bullpen anchored by Chapman and this is a legitimate playoff pitching staff. Three games to the deadline. LET'S GO.

    #RedSox#Rafaela#Contreras#RangerSuarez#Boston
  • 💰 GRAY STAYS?Jul 29

THE WHOLE DEADLINE STORY FLIPPED. Three weeks ago SONNY GRAY was the most coveted arm on the market and I was screaming KEEP HIM. Now Boston is in the playoff picture and Gray is reportedly interested in an EXTENSION instead. Look at the line: 2.48 ERA — SECOND-LOWEST IN THE AMERICAN LEAGUE and a career best — 1.12 WHIP, 90 punchouts against EIGHT walks in 101.2 innings. His deal ends after this year with a $10M mutual option for 2027, and he holds a no-trade clause he says he is at least open to discussing. Craig Breslow, do the obvious thing. SIGN HIM.

    #RedSox#SonnyGray#Extension#Breslow#TradeDeadline
  • ⚾ FINAL — EXTRAS IN SACRAMENTOJul 29

RED SOX 4, ATHLETICS 2 — TENTH INNING, ANDRUW MONASTERIO, TWO-RUN BOMB. That is your ballgame. Boston takes the series in West Sacramento after a rough Tuesday and this lineup keeps finding a different guy every single night. CEDDANNE RAFAELA had already carried Monday with a GRAND SLAM for all four runs in a 4-2 win. Now Monasterio in extras. Different hero, same result. THIS is what a real team looks like in late July.

    #RedSox#Monasterio#Rafaela#Athletics#PullOnTheRope
  • HEARTBREAKERJul 28

ATHLETICS 4, RED SOX 3. Third loss in TWENTY-ONE GAMES — read that again — and it snapped a TEN-GAME ROAD WINNING STREAK. Rookie Gage Jump threw six scoreless at us and Brian Serven hit his first big-league homer in nearly four years. CONNOR WONG got us within one with a two-run shot with two outs in the NINTH before Seigler flew out to deep center to end it. Came all the way back from three down and lost by a run. Nothing to hang your head about. Get 'em tomorrow.

    #RedSox#ConnorWong#Athletics#TracyEra
  • BUYERS, NOT SELLERSJul 27

AUGUST 3 AND WE ARE SHOPPING. The reporting has completely turned over: Gray and AROLDIS CHAPMAN have gone from obvious trade chips to guys who are staying, and the Red Sox are now expected to look for INFIELD HELP before the deadline. An 18-4 July does that. I said this city does not sell. I said pull on the rope. Craig Breslow now has three days to add a bat and finish the job.

    #RedSox#TradeDeadline#Breslow#Chapman#PullOnTheRope
  • 🔥 15 STRAIGHT — HISTORYJul 22

FIFTEEN IN A ROW. SIX-THREE OVER BALTIMORE and the Boston Red Sox have TIED THE LONGEST WINNING STREAK IN FRANCHISE HISTORY — a record that stood for EIGHTY YEARS. From 37-48 and buried in last place to a fifteen-game tear that dragged us all the way back into the postseason race. The Orioles snapped it 5-1 in the nightcap of the doubleheader and I do not care one bit. This city got fifteen straight nights of October baseball in July. Chad Tracy has this room believing. PULL ON THE ROPE.

    #RedSox#WinStreak#ChadTracy#Fenway#PullOnTheRope
  • DEADLINE WATCHJul 8

The AUGUST 3 deadline is the whole ballgame now. Craig Breslow is playing it coy — buy or sell, he wants a couple more weeks of baseball before he commits. The chips if we sell: SONNY GRAY (AL wins leader, but a $31M salary and a no-trade), AROLDIS CHAPMAN (the reliever every contender wants), and WILLSON CONTRERAS (maybe the best bat available). I'm begging the front office — do NOT tear it down. Fight for it.

    #RedSox#TradeDeadline#Breslow#Boston
  • 🔥 SONNY GRAYJul 7

SONNY GRAY has been the acquisition of the year — leading the AMERICAN LEAGUE in wins (9) and sitting fourth with a 2.69 ERA. The Cardinals deal is a massive win for Breslow and now every contender is blowing up his phone. Between the no-trade clause, the $31M tag and how filthy he's been, my vote is simple: you don't trade aces, you build around them. KEEP HIM.

    #RedSox#SonnyGray#Boston#TradeDeadline
  • ROTATION ROOMJul 6

The injury report is BRUTAL: Garrett Crochet, Kutter Crawford, Johan Oviedo, Tanner Houck and now Connelly Early are ALL on the shelf. That leaves Gray, Ranger Suárez, rookie PAYTON TOLLE and Jake Bennett to carry a big-league rotation. Tolle keeps flashing front-end stuff and Bennett battles every fifth day, but somebody get these arms healthy. We need the cavalry back yesterday.

    #RedSox#Rotation#InjuryUpdate#Boston
  • YANKEES SWEEPJul 4

FOUR-GAME SWEEP OF THE YANKEES and for one glorious week the season felt ALIVE — our FanGraphs playoff odds nearly DOUBLED. We've since cooled off and given some of it back, but you cannot tell me this room quit. Sweeping the Bombers is pure oxygen. More of THAT, boys. Pull on the rope.

    #RedSox#Yankees#RivalrySweep#Boston
  • RIVALRY LJun 7

YANKEES 6, RED SOX 1. Ranger Suárez carved us up for six strikeouts in the Bronx and the bats went quiet. Series opener gone. It always stings extra in pinstripe country — burn the tape and get 'em tomorrow. We don't bow in New York.

    #RedSox#Yankees#ALEast#TracyEra
  • RAINOUTJun 6

Saturday at the Stadium POSTPONED (rain). Rescheduled as an August 29 doubleheader. Day off in the Bronx — the bullpen will take it. We do this twice in one day come late August.

    #RedSox#Yankees#ALEast
  • CONTRERAS GOES DEEPJun 5

WILLSON CONTRERAS launched his 13TH HOME RUN — a two-run shot — and ANDRUW MONASTERIO added a solo bomb AND turned an unassisted double play. The reigning AL Player of the Week is STILL carrying this lineup on his back. THIS is the signing paying dividends. Pull on the rope.

    #RedSox#Contreras#Monasterio#TracyEra#CallMeNelito
  • ROSTER MOVEJun 4

BRAYAN BELLO optioned to Triple-A Worcester. Breslow says they want him to "fall back in love with baseball" — reset the head, find the slider, come back the pitcher we know he is. TOMMY KAHNLE recalled to the bullpen and got right to work. The arm depth gets a jolt.

    #RedSox#Bello#Kahnle#TracyEra
  • BREAKINGApr 26

CORA OUT. Sox part ways with Alex Cora after the team stumbles to 11-15 to open the season. CBO Craig Breslow says "we needed a new voice." Translation: 2018 ring earned you a long leash, Alex, but the leash ran out somewhere on the Pike. Adios.

    #RedSox#CoraOut#Breaking#Fenway#TracyEra
  • NEW SKIPPERApr 26

CHAD TRACY NAMED INTERIM MANAGER. Bench coach gets the call to right the ship. The man's a baseball lifer and he's walking into a clubhouse with the lights ON. Win some games, kid, and the job is yours.

  • TORONTO TROUBLEApr 29

Two-game skid up at the Rogers Centre. Bello allows 4 in 3.2 (yeah, walking everybody) — Sox drop the rubber game 8-1. Apr 28 the offense forgot to bring bats: shut out 3-0. Apr 27 we DID smack them around 5-0, so put that on the resume. Series loss to a team in our division stinks. Burn the tape.

  • INJURY ROOMApr 30

GARRETT CROCHET (15-day IL, shoulder inflammation) — back mid-May. SONNY GRAY (15-day IL, hamstring) — eyeing May 6. TRISTON CASAS (60-day IL, abdomen/knee) — late June at the earliest. JUSTIN SLATEN (oblique) — close to a return. The rotation is held together with athletic tape and prayer. Bullpen ranks 8th in MLB at 3.67. Saving us all.

  • CITY PRIDEApr 30

You don't love this team because it's good. You love it because it's OURS. Fenway is still the prettiest building in baseball, the Monstah doesn't care about your ERA+, and 12-19 in May fixes itself in this town with a hot week and a packed bleacher section. • STORY DOWNMay 16

Trevor Story placed on the 10-day IL (retroactive to May 15) with a sports hernia. He may require surgery — 6 to 10 weeks on the shelf. Six errors lead all AL shortstops. Nick Sogard recalled from Triple-A Worcester to fill the roster spot. Andruw Monasterio slides to SS but committed a throwing error in the ninth last night. Infield depth is THIN.

THE GOOD: Rotation is the BEST in baseball, 15-1 when starters go 6+. Coulombe expected back. Sandoval and Crawford progressing. THE BAD: Fewest home runs in the MAJORS. 7-12 at Fenway. Story out. RETOOLED — PETERKA INSTATUS

DON SWEENEY DID THE WORK THIS SUMMER. Cam Neely stood at that end-of-season podium and said the words out loud — more speed, more talent — and for once the follow-through matched. The big one landed right before Round 1: the NO. 23 PICK plus Florida's 2028 first (top-10 protected) to the Utah Mammoth for JJ PETERKA, a 24-year-old top-six scorer. Then July 1 turned into a blue-line teardown and rebuild: WILL BORGEN in from the Rangers for a 2027 second and a conditional 2028 third, CONNOR CLIFTON back home on two years at a $2.25M hit, JORDAN HARRIS re-upped at $850K. Sweeney went and solved right-shot D TWICE, and Boston now carries TEN NHL-CALIBER DEFENSEMEN — which means somebody else is probably getting moved. In goal, Joonas Korpisalo went to New York for Kalle Vaisanen and a 2028 fourth, which cracks the door WIDE open for MICHAEL DiPIETRO to take a real NHL job behind Swayman. Two weeks into free agency the verdict around the league was unanimous: younger, faster, deeper on defense than a year ago. The one box still unchecked is the NO. 1 CENTER — Neely said he wanted it fixed this summer and it is not fixed. In-house, JAMES HAGENS and FRASER MINTEN get their shot to answer it. 100 points and a playoff berth last year was the floor. NEXT YEAR WE LIFT THE CUP. BEAR DOWN.

  • 📋 OFFSEASON REPORT CARDJul 28

Two weeks past the free agency rush and here is the honest grade: BOSTON IS BETTER. Younger, faster, and deeper on the blue line than the group that squeezed out 100 points and a first-round exit. PETERKA is the kind of finisher this roster has been begging for since the Bergeron era ended. BORGEN and CLIFTON gave Marco Sturm a real right side. The knock — and it is a fair one — is that the club talked openly about needing a NUMBER ONE CENTER and did not go get one. Neely said he wanted it solved. It is not solved. HAGENS and MINTEN, this is your window. BEAR DOWN.

  • 🥅 DiPIETRO'S DOORJul 22

The Korpisalo trade to the Rangers — Kalle Vaisanen and a 2028 fourth coming back — was about more than cap math. It CLEARED THE RUNWAY for MICHAEL DiPIETRO, and a Massachusetts kid who has waited his whole career for an NHL job finally has one in front of him behind Jeremy Swayman. Boston also extended LUKE CAVALLIN on a one-year, two-way at $850K after 34 games with Maine and eight with Providence. The pipeline is stocked. Go take the net, Mikey.

  • TEN D-MENJul 15

Count them up: Sweeney addressed right-shot defense TWICE this month and the Bruins are now carrying TEN NHL-CALIBER DEFENSEMEN. Boston chased Rasmus Andersson back in January, missed, watched Andersson and Darren Raddysh never reach the market and John Carlson sign elsewhere — so the front office pivoted to the trade board and got it done anyway. That is the good news. The other news: a logjam that thick usually ends with ANOTHER MOVE. Keep your phone charged, Don.

  • CAP SHEETJul 7

Where the B's stand at July 8: PETERKA and BORGEN in, roughly $5.4M in cap space, five first-rounders still stockpiled across the next three drafts, and Swayman locked in long-term. The UFA class was thin league-wide, so the TRADE market is where Sweeney makes his next move. Cam Neely's orders were simple — more speed, more talent. NEXT YEAR WE LIFT THE CUP. BEAR DOWN.

  • 🔁 BIG TRADE — JJ PETERKAJul 1

THE BIG SWING LANDED: Boston sent TWO first-round picks to the Utah Mammoth for right wing JJ PETERKA — a legit top-six scorer and exactly the speed and skill Cam Neely demanded. Marco Sturm finally has a real finisher for the top two lines. THIS is the aggression this roster was screaming for. BEAR DOWN.

  • FREE AGENCY DAY 1Jul 1

Sweeney went to WORK on July 1: acquired top-four defenseman WILL BORGEN from the Rangers (signed through 2029-30), brought back CONNOR CLIFTON on a two-year deal, and moved goalie Joonas Korpisalo. Depth adds: Jordan Harris, Brendan Gaunce and a handful of two-way bodies. Retool, not rebuild — and there's cap room left to keep swinging.

  • ARVY GONEJul 2

Gut-punch on the wing: VIKTOR ARVIDSSON signed a 2-year, $5M deal with DETROIT. Thought we'd bring him back on those terms even with Peterka aboard — the man played through a fractured rib and a PUNCTURED LUNG for us. Thank you for the sandpaper and the heart, Arvy. Wish it ended different. Best of luck everywhere but against the B's.

  • SIGNINGJun 5

Bruins sign forward NAVRIN MUTTER to a one-year, two-way contract extension. Depth, sandpaper, and a body that brings it every shift. Sweeney keeps the bottom of the roster honest while the big swings come later this summer. BEAR DOWN.

  • ROAD TO THE DRAFTJun 4

Don Sweeney and the staff are dialed in at the NHL Scouting Combine, with the Draft now weeks away. The Bruins own a low-20s first plus a stockpile of picks — top-six forward speed and back-half D help are the marching orders. The Sunday Read had the front office on the clock. CUP IN '27 starts HERE.

  • GAME 6 — ELIMINATEDMay 1

Sabres 4, Bruins 1. Buffalo wins the series 4-2 and ends our 2025-26 run on home ice at TD Garden. Swayman 22 of 25 before the empty-netter (.880), Arvidsson scratched with an upper-body, the building stayed loud until the final horn. Hat's off, boys — that scoreboard burns, but you wore the spoked-B with everything you had.

  • TO THE HATERSMay 2

Oh you're LOVING this, aren't you? Tweeting "BRUINS IN SHAMBLES" from a basement in a city whose team last won a Cup when the Walkman was new. Go ahead, get it out of your system. We finished 100 points, fifth in the East, and our worst player just out-pointed your captain. Save the screenshot — you'll need it for the parade route in 2027.

  • SEASON RECAPMay 1

    Final ledger: 45-27-10, 100 points. Atlantic 4th, East 5th. Home 29-11-1, road 16-16-9. Pastrnak 100 (29-71). Geekie 68 (39-29). Zacha 65 (30-35). McAvoy 61 (11-50, +13). Sturm in year one drags this group to triple-digit points. That's a foundation, not a funeral.

  • INJURY ROOMMay 1

Viktor Arvidsson — upper-body, missed Game 6. The man had 54 points in the regular season as a second-line winger and Boston felt his absence on every shift. Get healthy, Vik. Whole city owes you a beer at Faneuil Hall.

    #Bruins#Arvidsson#InjuryUpdate#Boston
  • BETWEEN THE PIPESMay 1

Jeremy Swayman started Game 6, made 22 saves on 25 shots before Buffalo iced it with an empty-netter. Carried us at the Garden, on the road, in OT in Game 5 — the man was a wall all spring. Re-watch the Tage Thompson glove and tell me again this kid isn't built for June.

    #Bruins#Swayman#Goalie#Playoffs#BearDown
  • HOME ICE BLUESMay 1

Sabres swept all three games at TD Garden. The same building that went 29-11-1 in the regular season turned into a problem in the series. That's the offseason headline — fix the high-stakes home game and this group is dangerous in any bracket.

  • OFFSEASON LOOKMay 2

NHL Draft Lottery, then the Draft, then July 1 free agency. Don Sweeney has cap room, picks, and a 100-point core to build around. Add a top-six forward, sort the back half of the D, and we're right back in it. CUP IN '27. WRITE IT DOWN.

    #Bruins#Offseason#NHLDraft#DonSweeney#BearDown
  • THANK YOUMay 2

To Sturm, Sweeney, the room, the trainers, the busload of healthy scratches who showed up in Game 5 in Buffalo — thank you. To every fan who froze in line on Causeway, screamed through Game 5 OT, and stayed standing when the horn went last night — THANK YOU. We'll see you in October. We're winning the whole thing next year.

  • LOTTERY EVEMay 5

Don Sweeney walked the boards on a long offseason planning weekend ahead of Lottery Day. Cap room, picks, and a 100-point core. Top-six forward, sort the back-half D, lock in Swayman, send it again. Cup in '27 — write it down.

    #Bruins#NHLDraft#DonSweeney#Boston#Causeway
  • SWAY EXTENSIONMay 6

End-of-season pressers: Neely says "We need more talent, we need more speed." Sweeney: "We need to deepen our skillset and the speed of our club." $16.4M in cap space under a $104M ceiling. Top-six forward, No. 1 center, sort the back-half D — those are the marching orders. ATTACK.

    #Bruins#CamNeely#DonSweeney#Boston#Causeway#BearDown
  • INJURY ROOMMay 7

Breakup day reveals the damage: NIKITA ZADOROV — fully torn MCL "off the bone" in Game 3. VIKTOR ARVIDSSON — fractured rib and PUNCTURED LUNG, missed Games 5-6. ELIAS LINDHOLM — back issues. These men were playing BROKEN and nobody knew. Salute every single one.

    #Bruins#Zadorov#Arvidsson#Boston
  • LOTTERY BUSTMay 8

NHL Draft Lottery: Toronto wins #1. WORST CASE for Boston — the conditional 1st from the Brandon Carlo trade was top-5 protected, and Toronto just landed in the top 5. Bruins get Toronto's 2027 or 2028 1st instead. Still hold their own pick in the low 20s. Five 1st-rounders over three drafts. Build through the draft.

    #Bruins#NHLDraft#NHLLottery#Boston
  • MCAVOY HEARINGMay 9

Charlie McAvoy has an in-person hearing with NHL Player Safety on May 11 for the Game 6 slash on Benson. In-person means a potential 6+ game suspension to start 2026-27. Benson appeared to slew-foot McAvoy first — this is a GARBAGE call and I will die on this hill.

    #Bruins#McAvoy#PlayerSafety#Boston
  • SWAY NEWSMay 10

Jeremy Swayman announces he's skipping the IIHF World Championship because HE'S EXPECTING A BABY. Dad energy. Wall energy. Already on his 8-year, $66M extension through 2032. The man is locked in on AND off the ice. BEAR DOWN.

  • MCAVOY SUSPENDEDMay 12

SIX GAMES. Charlie McAvoy suspended six regular-season games to start 2026-27 for the two-handed slash on Benson in Game 6. In-person hearing at NHL offices in New York. NHL called it "intentional and forceful." McAvoy and NHLPA can appeal to Bettman and a neutral arbitrator since it exceeds five games. Benson SLEW-FOOTED HIM FIRST — GARBAGE CALL, I will die on this hill. FIGHT THIS, CHARLIE.

  • 🏆 VEZINA FINALISTMay 20

JEREMY SWAYMAN — VEZINA TROPHY FINALIST. Named one of the top three goaltenders in the NHL for the 2025-26 season. 31 wins, 2.71 GAA in the regular season. Then went 2-4 in the playoffs with a 2.48 GAA and .916 save pct. The man is a WALL and the league knows it. Already locked in on an 8-year, $66M extension through 2032. Cornerstone. BOOK IT.

  • 🏅 CLANCY NOMINEEMay 22

Jordan Harris nominated for the KING CLANCY MEMORIAL TROPHY for his work opening pathways for youth hockey players. The man gives back to the community every single day. THIS is what wearing the spoked-B means — it's bigger than the ice.
